Gill’s guitar sound inspired Kurt Cobain, Michael Stipe and Red Hot Chili Peppers, whose debut album he produced Andy Gill, the guitarist with Gang of Four, whose sound influenced generations of post-punk bands, has died aged 64. The news was announced by the band on their social media channels on Saturday.
